Summary of Foresight
Conference
It has been a few weeks since we returned from the
Foresight Conference, and it is time to bring you up-to-date
on what is new at Foresight. We had an intensive 2 1/2 days
of sessions which demonstrated just how far the product has
come in the last two years and what the plans are for the
future.
Foresight, as a company, have seen revenues increase and
profitability increase over the past two years as they have
rolled out their new DECADE product. They now have 3
customers who are in their second year live with Decade, 3
more in their first year live and 5 currently implementing
with a further 4 licensed to upgrade but not yet started.
This is encouraging and bodes well for the future of the
product.
Of course there are still many customers that are still on
the character version of the product (V7.4 mostly), and they
will not be forgotten. Discussions were held with the
executive at Foresight to see how we can best combine the
features of the new-look Decade product with the practicality
of the often highly modified Character product. In fact we at
Chassels are now converting our own internal system to Decade
and intend on providing a character interface to that system,
which will be identical to the existing V7.4 interface. When
we are successful with this we will be able to offer it to
our customers as a logical upgrade path.
As for DECADE itself, The Financial and the Distribution
are complete with the latest Purchasing module just released
to Beta test. The next phase is the redesign of the
Manufacturing, which will complete the core functionality of
the original product. At Chassels we are pretty excited about
this progress and look forward to using the product and
contributing to its future functionality. We have already
moved our popular Archiver and Plus Formed products over to
the DECADE environment and of course our new Executive
Snapshot browser based product will work with the DECADE
product.
There were many good sessions to attend, and I even
presented a session on "Enhancements to MXP" which
highlighted some of the things Chassels has done to enhance
the product. If anyone is interested in this presentation
then I can send it to them. It won't be as good as the live
session, but it does cover the points.
The Conference was well organized and the location of
Nashville was a good choice. Personally I was hoping that the
Nashville Predators would have made it to the second round of
the NHL Playoffs, as that would have given me a rare chance
to see hockey in May. Toronto hasn't seen that for years!
